What Is a Good Ontario Workforce Priority EOI Score?
There is no single guaranteed EOI score that results in an invitation to apply.
Your score places you in the Ontario Workforce Priority EOI pool, but Ontario may determine who receives invitations based on program priorities, labour market needs and the characteristics of candidates in the pool.
A higher EOI score can improve your ranking, but an EOI registration or high score does not guarantee an invitation or nomination.
Because the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream is a newly redesigned stream in 2026, applicants should not rely on invitation scores from the former Employer Job Offer streams as direct predictors of future Ontario Workforce Priority invitations.
How Can I Improve My EOI Score?
Depending on your circumstances, your score may change if your qualifications or situation changes.
Potential scoring factors include:
- improving your English or French language results
- qualifying for points in both English and French
- gaining additional eligible Ontario work experience
- earning an additional eligible Canadian educational credential
- increasing eligible Canadian earnings history
- holding a valid work permit
- changes to the qualifying wage or employment information
- the location of the qualifying Ontario employment
Any information entered in an EOI must be accurate and supported by documentation if you are invited to apply.
Ontario Workforce Priority Stream Application Process
Step 1: Employer Submits the Job Offer
For most applicants, the Ontario employer first registers through the Employer Portal and submits the proposed position.
The applicant then receives a Job Offer ID.
Step 2: Register an Expression of Interest
The applicant must register an EOI within 30 calendar days of the employer submitting the job offer.
Step 3: Receive an Invitation to Apply
Ontario may select candidates from the EOI pool and issue an Invitation to Apply.
An invitation does not automatically establish eligibility.
Step 4: Employer Submits the Position Approval Application
The employer generally has 14 calendar days from the invitation date to submit the application for approval of the employment position.
Step 5: Applicant Submits the OINP Application
The applicant generally has 17 calendar days from the invitation date to submit the OINP application and pay the fee.
The applicant cannot submit until the employer has submitted the employment position approval application. (ontario.ca)
Step 6: Provincial Nomination and Permanent Residence
If Ontario approves the nomination, the applicant may proceed to the applicable federal permanent residence process.
The final permanent residence decision is made by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). (ontario.ca)
